2025 was a year shaped by movement, collaboration and colour for us at The London Mural Company. From live events to landmark buildings and expansive public spaces, each project offered a different way to explore how hand‑painted murals can transform environments and connect people with their environment.
Rather than one defining style or format, this year was about variety - different cities, different surfaces, and different creative voices - all united by a shared commitment to thoughtful design and careful execution.
Setting the Tone: EE Learn Live at White Rabbit Studios
The year began outdoors, at White Rabbit Studios, with a mural created for EE Learn Live. Designed to support a live event environment, the artwork brought energy and cohesion to the space, becoming part of the experience rather than simply a backdrop.
Projects like this highlight how murals can enhance spaces and events - adding atmosphere, reinforcing brand identity, and creating moments that audiences remember long after the day itself. It was a strong starting point for the year and set the pace for what followed.
A Moment of Colour in the City: “May Day” at Leadenhall Street.
From the studio, our work moved into the heart of London with the installation of “May Day” by artist Lothar Götz at 40 Leadenhall Street. Standing over 12 metres tall, this permanent outdoor mural introduces a bold yet considered presence into the City’s architectural landscape.
Working on a project of this scale requires a careful balance of planning, technical knowledge and respect for the artist’s vision. Our role was to support the delivery of Götz’s first outdoor public wall painting in London and to ensure that the work translated seamlessly from concept to finished surface.
The mural’s geometric forms and layered colour bring a sense of optimism and rhythm to the surrounding streets. In a part of the city often defined by speed and structure, May Day offers a pause and a reminder of how public art can soften urban environments and add emotional depth to everyday journeys. A huge thanks to LACUNA Studios and Domo Baal who commissioned, curated and supported throughout the project.
Movement and Scale on the Quayside: “Go With The Flow” in Newcastle
Later in the year, we travelled north to Newcastle’s Quayside to install a large‑scale ground mural with Portuguese duo HalfStudio.
Stretching across 90 metres, the artwork transformed a former bus lane into a vivid, flowing composition inspired by the River Tyne. Unlike a traditional wall mural, this piece was designed to be experienced up close, walked across, photographed, and used as a backdrop for summer events along the waterfront.
The project was a reminder that murals don’t have to live solely on vertical surfaces. Ground‑level works like this invite a different kind of interaction, turning overlooked areas into shared spaces and temporary landmarks within the city.
Collaboration was key here, between artists, curators and local partners - ensuring the final piece reflected both the creative intent and the character of Newcastle itself. A huge thanks to Unit 44 and NE1 for the support and coordination throughout the installation.
Reflecting on the Year
Looking back, 2025 was less about scale alone and more about intention. Each project, whether commercial, cultural or public, explored how murals can shape experience:
Creating identity within studios, offices and event spaces
Introducing colour and movement into built environments
Supporting artists in realising ambitious ideas
Encouraging people to engage with their surroundings in new ways
Behind every mural is a process. From concept development and surface preparation to installation and finishing, this year reinforced the value of taking the time to get those details right.
Looking Ahead
As the year comes to a close, we’re grateful for the conversations, collaborations and trust that made these projects possible. From London to Newcastle and beyond, 2025 reminded us that murals have the power to quietly reshape how spaces feel and how people move through them.
We’re looking forward to what’s next, new places, new partnerships, and more opportunities to create thoughtful, hand‑painted work that adds something meaningful to the spaces it inhabits.
